   Mission Statement    

 

Article I

 

Section 1.  The name of this organization is known as Young Men United hereinafter referred to as YMU shall be.

  1. To build character for life to the youth of this community, so that these individuals will grow to be mature, responsible adults.

  2. To engage in any and all lawful activities in furtherance of those set forth under section 1 (a) both directly and through contributions to any other corporation, trust, fund or foundation whose principle purposes are charitable, scientific, literary, educational, artistic of cultural; provide any such activity or contribution shall conform to any applicable restriction of limitations set forth in the corporation's charter of bylaws or which are imposed on corporation's described under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and the Treasury Regulations promulgated there under from time to time.

Section 2.  The YMU shall enter into contracts, employ staff, receive and disburse tax or voluntary funds, and conduct such other activities consistent with law and practice governing voluntary not-for-profit associations necessary to carry out the above purpose an not in violation with charter.

 

 

Article II

 

Section 1.  The Executive Committee shall meet for the organization and conduct such business as may come before it at the call of the President. Meetings can be called as often as the President deems necessary. The four (4) members of this committee shall constitute a quorum thereof.

 

Section 2.  The executive Committee shall authorize and approve all expenditures: shall require adequate bonds from all persons having the custody of YMU funds: shall hear the reports of YMU committee chairman; and generally shall have charge of and be responsible for the management of the affairs of this organization.

 

Article III

 

Section 1.  The officers of YMU shall be President, Vice President, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Secretary, Recreational Directory, Assistant Recreational Directory and Fund Raiser.

 

Section 2.  At any specific time an officer can be a representative in roughly equal proportions of the committees. The officers are voted in by a quorum of four (4) Executive Committee members.

 

Article IV - Duties of Officers

 

Section 1.  Duties of the President: It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all meetings and to have general supervision over the business and affairs, and such officer shall be the chief executive officer. The President shall approve all orders directing the disbursement of funds and shall make an annual report covering the business for the year, and shall perform such other duties as directed by the organization.

 

Section 2.  Duties of the Vice President: The Vice President shall assume and discharge the duties of the office of President in the absence or disability of, or when called upon by the President.

 

Section 3.  Duties of Chairman: Same as the Vice President when not available or same as the President when the President and Vice President are not available.

 

Section 4.  Duties of Vice Chairman: Same as the Chairman when the Chairman is not available and same as the Vice President if the President and Vice President are not available.

 

Section 5.  Duties of Secretary: Secretary shall have charge of and keep a full and correct record of all proceedings of all meetings, keep such records as may be required, render reports of membership annually or when called upon at a meeting, and under direction of the President handle all correspondence of YMU.

 

Section 6.  Duties of Treasurer: The Treasurer of YMU shall have charge of all finances and see that they are safely deposited in a local bank and shall report twice a month to the Executive Committee the condition of the finances of YMU, with such recommendations as they may deem expedient or necessary for raising funds in which to carry on the activities of YMU, sign all checks, and disburse the moneys of YMU. Treasurer shall furnish such surety bonds in such sums as shall be fixed by the Executive Committee.

 

Section 7.  Duties of Recreational Director: shall be charged with aid and service to all youth of the recreational activities of YMU.

 

Section 8.  Duties of Assistant Recreational Director: shall be the same as the Recreational Director when called upon by the President, or the Recreational Director is not available.

 

Article V

 

Section 1.  Athletic Committee: shall be charged with aid and service to all youth, and cooperating with other established agencies in the community: laboring for the betterment of youth conditions and in coordinating services and agencies in the community.

 

Section 2.  Finance Committee: The Finance Committee shall be charged with the administration of the financial policy, preparation of budget recommendations and supervision of receiving, disbursing and accounting of all YMU funds.

 

Section 3.  House and Entertainment Committee: shall promote arrangements and advantages for YMU social activities.

 

Section 4.  Membership Committee: shall have charge of all matters pertaining to the membership of YMU, including the procuring of new members, reinstatements and eligibility of members.

 

Section 5.  Public Relations Committee: shall be charged with the promotion of public support of YMU programs by the establishment of proper contact with the local newspaper and radio stations.

 

Article VI

 

Section 1.  The regular meeting of YMU shall be held at the Rocket Ball Park every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., in which business transactions may properly be brought up for action; such meetings may be converted into entertainment meetings, as deemed advisable by the officers of YMU.

 

Section 2.  The President or a majority of the Executive Committee shall have power to call a special meeting of YMU at any time.

 

Article VII

 

Section 1.  Every member shall furnish the organization with his or her address for mailing purposes.

 

Article VIII

 

Section 1.  These By-Laws may be amended by a majority vote of the Executive Board, provided that such amendments are known and available to the members at least on week prior to the meeting at which they will be presented and voted upon at a subsequent meeting.
